The National Housing Development Company Ltd (NHDC) was set up in March 1991, as a Housing and Property Development Company, to act as the executive arm of the Governement, in the provision of social housing.
The principal objective of the NHDC Ltd is to engage in residential and other property development for the purpose of sale or lease to low-income households and to middle income groups.
The Company also manages the Slab Grant Scheme on behalf of the central Governement and under the aegis of the Ministry of Housing and Lands (MHL). It administers the site and services project, which consists in receiving applications, calling all applicants for interview and assess their eligibility. As from 2013, allocation of residential plots to eligible applicants is carried out by the Ministry of Housing and Lands.
